In August 2022, West Fife Islamic Education and Welfare Centre proudly acquired this beautiful site of worship, formerly known as Dunfermline Congregational Church. Built in 1840, these historic buildings have always been a place of worship. During the Great War, the rooms even served as a hospital for wounded soldiers. We are thrilled to continue this tradition, keeping this building as a House of God, and serving our community’s spiritual, social, and educational needs.

Green Dome Mosque a non-profit, non-political, Ahle Sunnah Wal Jammat (Hanafi Barelvi) organization, was founded by a few local families seeking a space for their daily spiritual practices, weekly congregational gatherings, and special Islamic events. Over five years, the number of classes and social events has grown, evolving into a vibrant community hub. When the former Dunfermline Congregational Church came up for sale, it felt like destiny. The founding families, who had grown up in the area, seized the opportunity to establish roots in the heart of the city.

Upon purchasing the new site, the founders made a solemn promise to uphold the splendour of the building and respect its rich history. By maintaining the legacy of this sacred space, we aim to honour its past while serving our community’s present and future needs. The mosque not only functions as a place of worship but also as a centre for learning and community service.

We are dedicated to nurturing the spiritual and social well-being of our community, fostering an environment where the teachings of Islam can flourish. Green Dome Mosque stands as a testament to our commitment to faith, heritage, and community, ensuring that this historic building remains a beacon of light and hope for all who enter its doors.
